Natalia Gaytan was raised in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, which borders El Paso, TX. As a Mexican-American who now lives in New York City, Gaytan’s work focuses on exploring cultural identity and how we carry parts of our heritage into new environments. She is interested not only in digital media but in how analog media can serve its purpose in a digitized world. Through video, photography, and writing, Gaytan borrows from her personal experience and observations to connect to broader social and cultural themes. Her decision to work in the arts is grounded in her desire to help others understand how culture shapes us and how, through human connection, we can shape it too.
